Vorarlberg is the westernmost federal state of Austria. It is the second-smallest area after Vienna, which is not only the Austrian Capital but also the smallest federal state. Vorarlberg borders three countries: Germany (Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg via Lake Constance), Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The only Austrian state that shares a border with Vorarlberg is Tyrol, which is to the east.
The capital of Vorarlberg is the city of Bregenz famous for its Music festival. Vorarlberg is almost completely mountainous with a nickname the “Ländle” which means “small land” in German. Many alpine delicacies like sausages, dried meat and cheese are produced from local artisan manufactures.
