Franconia (Germany)

Franconia is a region divided by the German states of Hesse, Thuringia, Bavaria and Baden-Würtenberg. The largest part of Franconia is in the north/northeast of Bavaria which includes the three provinces Upper, Middle and Lower Franconia. These names refer to the geographical situation in respect to the River Main. These three provinces meet in one point which is called the "Three Frankonians Rock" Some people also divide the region into "Beer" and "Wine" Franconia as both parts are equally famous for the beverages produced there.

Nürnberg, in Middle Franconia, is world famous for its Christmas market the "Nuernberger Christkindls Markt", the Gingerbread, and Christstollen.
